Cardiac Technician - CPL Recruitment

Conduct the technical support required for the therapeutic procedures including; Temporary and permanent pacemaker implantation to include recording of pre-implant measurements.  An understanding of the use of and benefits of a variety of pacemakers, including programmable pacemakers and programmers is required. Full knowledge of cardiac resuscitation and cardiac drugs.

Role Summary

To be familiar with the techniques and range of equipment used in current medical practice for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients referred to the Cardiology Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.0 Key Areas of Responsibility
1.1 To perform and interpret the following: ECG's, Stress tests, Holter monitoring & analysis, BP monitors & analysis, Event monitors & analysis & Pacemaker follow up.
1.2 To be responsible for accurate storing of reports generated from the above tests.
1.3 Training in Pacemaker implant and ICD implant and follow up, Echocardiography & Cardiac Catheterisation. Maintain accurate documentation regarding these procedures. Have adequate knowledge of the products required during these procedures.
1.4 To be professionally responsible for all aspects of the post holders own work.
1.5 Support the Head of Department in the implementation of initiatives aimed at improving and developing the service of the Cardiology Department.
1.6 Maintaining the department environment to promote good infection control and health and safety at work.
1.7 Working co-operatively with others as part of the multi-disciplinary team helping and assisting other clinical staff in the routine work associated with patient care.

Senior Cardiac Technician Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Clinical Measurement or a Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement. Have at least a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a busy Cardiac Department in Ireland/UK Technical proficiency in performing Stress Tests, Holter, BP and Event monitoring, ECG’s, Device analysis. A degree of competence in Echocardiography is essential. Technical proficiency in the Cath Lab is also desirable. Excellent Communication skills. Good computer skills essential.
